Raised on Songs & Stories – 14th June 2017

Following the choir’s biggest performance yet at London’s St Patrick’s Festival 2017, Songs in the Key of D are delighted to announce ‘Raised on Songs & Stories’, a night of Dublin song and story at Liberty Hall Theatre, Dublin 1 on Wednesday, 14th June at 8pm. Led by musical directors and multi-instrumentalists KC Fusion, expect to hear the 50 person choir perform songs by acts like The Dubliners, The Fureys, Noel Purcell, Sinéad O’Connor, Bell X1, Aslan, Mic Christopher, The Coronas, Glen Hansard and many more.

The choir are delighted to be joined on the night by spoken word poet, Stephen James Smith. Stephen wrote the acclaimed poem, Dublin You Are, and was commissioned by St Patrick’s Festival to produce a poem in honour of our national holiday. The theme of the 2017 parade was inspired by his words.

With Picturehouse on the Ray Darcy Show

You might have caught a few of us performing with Picturehouse on the Ray Darcy show last Friday on RTE Radio 1. If you didn’t, you can listen back below. We’re performing with them at their headline show at the National Concert Hall on the 13th of September. The gig marks 21 years since the release of Picturehouse’s debut album Shine Box. We can’t wait!

Tenor, Bass and Baritone auditions

The choir is holding auditions for Tenor, Bass and Baritone sections on:

Sunday the 14th May 2017
Time: 2 – 3pm
Location: The Red Room, UCD Student Centre, Belfield (MAP)

Successful singers will be required to attend a workshop for those sections, together with existing members, from 3 – 6 pm.
